  1. Wicca is one of the Pagan religions. Wiccans believe in various deities, often the Lord and the Lady, goddess and god (Wiccan friends, please DO tell me if I'm getting it wrong and apologies if I am!). Many Wiccans tend to be supportive of environmental concerns, as they revere nature.

I gather this website is helpful: http://www.witchvox.com

I've starred your post so my Pagan friends can come along and give more details :)

  2. Wicca is a new age mystery tradition.  You can learn about it from books, local classes such as Wicca 101 offered by many local covens and new age shops.

To become a Wiccan you would need to study an approved curriculum for the tradtion that you are interested in for a Year & a Day.  at which point you may or may not be offered a dedication, or you may self dedicate (according to some).

Be aware that Wicca has many adult themes and classes and rituals will not be open to you until you are 18 years old, or have the permission of a parent or legal guardian.

After your year and a day study and you recieve your dedication, you are still not technically a Wiccan in most traditions.  You will need to study for at least another year before you are offered an intitation.

These "hoops" are necessary hurdles for the seeker to overcome, in order to prove their level of commitment, because although Wicca is a religion, it is a primarily a priesthood.  And with any priesthood, they just dont grant you the privelege from walking in off the street with a casual interest to "see if it works or not"

If you are serious and intent on becomming wiccan.  Start by reading as much as you can on the subject.  If you are at least 18 you can seek out classes & open rituals at www.witchvox.com  In the left hand margin you can select your country & state too seek out others in your area.

Best of luck to you seeker.

  3. Read "Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner" by Scott Cunningham. This book will clear up a lot of popular misconceptions about what Wicca is, and what it isn't, as well as give you a clear path, self-dedication ritual and other materials on how to become a Wiccan. Then, make your own mind up. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks about a particular path... if it's right for You, do your will.

  4. First off, if you know you shouldn't be messing with it, why are you?  And why would you expect us to help you?

Second, Wicca is a religion.  It isn't something you "mess with."  You either believe, or you don't.  You either honor the gods, or you're playing pretend.  Not interested in our gods?  Then Wicca has *nothing* for you.

It's not an issue of "working."  It's not spells, special powers, and flying broomsticks.  It's religion...which certainly can be lifechanging, but not in the way I suspect you're wanting.

Here's a suggestion about life in general: the world is bigger than the internet.  If you really want to learn about something, you're probably going to have to step away from your computer and engage other resources.

  5. Sighs. "Ok".... (cracks knuckles)

"Guess I have so informing to do."

(Grabs WICCA FOR DUMMIES off the shelf)

You're probably young, I believe this because, a) the internet is not helping you, and better yet, b) you believe that "getting into and fooling around" with this "stuff" is "bad" and may "harm" or "endanger" you.

Wrong. wrong. wrong. . . but don't worry.

Ok. Here is the 10 IMPORTANT THINGS ABOUT WICCA:

1.1) WICCANS DON'T TRY AND CONVERT/RECRUIT YOU! (like Christianity does)

(upon looking into the religion you are not required to sign any oaths OR do anything you are not comfortable with)

    2. WICCA IS NOT EVIL/OR THE "DEVILS WORK"!

Wicca lives by one simple code of conduct: "If it harms none, then do what ye will."

(This regards mainly to spell casting, dark magick is not what Wicca is about, Wiccans are basically big Earth-Lovers who celebrate the magick and spirituality in life, not evil ppl who hurt others)

    3. NO h**l/DAMNATION/PUNISHMENT!

(Most Wiccans believe that all creatures are put on Earth to learn, grow, and collect knowledge and understanding, and continue on in the cycle of life and the immortal soul)

    4. ANYONE IS WELCOME!

(there is no "right" way to live, or be, or look like, everyone is accepted)

    5. TOTAL RELIGIOUS FREEDOM

(you don't have to attend a coven (witch temple), you can practice alone (solitary witch), with a community, family, any way you want. Once you know the basics you are free to practice as much or little as you want, you are a free person, no having to bow to a priest or minister, but you can pray to your G-d or G-d/G-desses if you want to though : )  )

    6. ALWAYS BE YOURSELF/ DO NOT CHANGE YOURSELF TO TRY AND FIT IN A CERTAIN WAY

    7. NO REPRESSION

(Wiccans are not forbidden from reading, learning, eating, drinking,

or saying anything. You are free to voice your own concerns and opinions w/o fear of being kicked out or cast way)

    8. GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY

(Wiccans are insisted upon to give back tot he community, not with money, but with knowledge and understanding and love.

    9. WERE NOT THE "CHOSEN" RELIGION

(Wiccans DO NOT believe that their way is "right", and others are "wrong" and "sinful", Wiccans simply choose this religion because it's what felt "right" to them, it "clicked", and so they enjoy themselves and do not fear what others say, however ignorant or cruel, they also believe that all religions are equal and good as long as no one is harmed)

    10. THERE IS ALWAYS ROOM TO GROW AND IMPROVE (practice literally makes perfect)

(Wicca allows you to truly feel your own power, if you will,

and a true sense of self. You are 'allowed' to be the best person

that you wish to be with all of the love and support that you can

possibly hope for. Wicca allows you to take your hopes, dreams, and most heart's desires and manifest them in this reality. (witch craft/spell working) All is possible. All is real. All is connected and one.

Wicca definition: a nature-based religion based upon folklore, rituals, festivals, practices, and magick.

Did you know all Chritain relgions were originally pagan/wiccan?

Easter - A celebration to the G-ddess, Eastre, the eggs and rabbits represent fertility, for it is the holiday of copulation. When Europe was taken over by the Church, they blended Christianity with the common rural area relgions to try and convert the peasents. Now we have Easter, a well-known "Christian" holdiay where you paint eggs and hide them for rabbits? It makes little sense and is very funny.

As was Christmas and so on... research it on Wikipedia or gurl.com or something.

(At the bottom I will list some teen and pre-teen wiccan/pagan pages)

~ Blessed Be and Merry Meet ~

("Be blessed and good meeting you." Witches Greeting and Fare well, similar to Aloha in Hawaiian or Shalom in Israeli)

P.S. Don't pay for spells or to join a coven, its a scam.

  6. Ok, well i'm gonna keep this as short as i can. You don't need to be Wiccan to perform spells, but if you wish to become Wiccan then i suggest you check out:

    http://www.paganfed.org/intro.php

It will give you a brief introduction to Wicca, or i suggest you purchase a book called 'Hedge Witch' by Rae Beth, i'm currently reading it and it's quite fasinating.

Becoming a Wiccan is a commitment so suggest you learn as much as you can and be sure it is what you truely believe then you may find a Wiccan to initiate you, but note that once you are initiated you can't turn back, 'once a witch, always a witch' or go to a coven and someone there can initiate you.

Hmm.... i guess that wasn't so short afterall.

  7. If you think you shouldn't be messing with it, then don't. Wicca is a religion, you don't just flip a light switch and change you belief system. Wicca is about a relationship to the gods and goddesses, not all about spellcraft. Not all Wiccans are witches.

You become Wiccan through study and dedication to the path, and/or initiation into it.

Not all witches are Wiccan either. Try books, things like Wicca for the Solitary Practitioner by Scott Cunningham, and really search yourself to see if you want to dedicate yourself to this religion, or if you just want to play with witchcraft.

  8. Huh? Wicca is a religion. The core tenets are honoring the gods, honoring the seasonal celebrations, and embracing the Wiccan Rede which states, An it harm none, do as you will.

Which part do think might or might not "work"? Everything about the religion is about honoring the gods. Asking if "it works" makes me suspect you are confusing Wicca with witchcraft. While a good many Wiccans practice witchcraft the two are not synonymous. Wicca is a religion. Witchcraft is a practice and can be practiced by one of any religion or no religion at all.

As to how you become Wiccan, Crystal Dolphin has given an answer that is pretty much what I would have said. You don't become Wiccan unless it is out of a desire to honor the gods. This link http://wicca.timerift.net is a very good online resource for accurate information about Wicca.

  9. If it actually works for what?  What are you referring to when you say "this stuff" that you shouldn't be messing with?

Wicca is a religion.  You become Wiccan when you have learned about the religion and its practices, found it was the right spiritual path for you because you hold the same core beliefs, and have at least started to develop a relationship with the gods.

This is one of the best websites to learn what Wicca is, and what it is not:  http://wicca.timerift.net/

I suggest you do a lot more research before declaring yourself Wiccan - this path calls to many, but it is not for everyone.

    Blessings on your journey.
