In the UK, to be a proper s*x therapist, you really need to do a foundation degree in psychology, then specialise in sexology, or the easier route (but less respected) is to do a diploma in councelling, get registered as a councellor then specialise.

s*x therapists have to have special people skills - a lot of people joke about this branch of the profession but it is very serious and only few people are truly up to the job.
