  2. what happens is that we breath in the rib muscles contract which moves the ribs upwards and outwards. the diaphragm

    contracts becoming flatter and increasing the volume of the chest cavity.

    when you breath out your rib muscles relax which moves the ribs downward and inward the diaphragm then becomes more domeshaped
