Question:

How do you buy a keg?

I just made a drunk promise that I'd buy a keg for next weekend.

Can you buy a keg at most liquor stores, or are there special places that you have to go? (I'm in Cincinnati, if it helps.)

Also, does it come with a tap and everything, or do you just need to buy that stuff yourself?

And how much would a keg of like Coors Light cost, anyway? I assume there's also a deposit of some kind involved, too? Are there usually pretty strict time requirements for when to have it back by (i.e.: am I going to have to drag my drunk *** out of bed to return it the next day)?

Thanks!

  1. Yeah, it will require a deposit, but just about any liquor store can set you up when you walk in.

And you've GOT to be kidding me about ABC states, deregulated is SO much better.  Here in PA I can only buy rye whisky special order by the case.  it was much better in college, I could walk over to CVS and have my pick of tasty beverages.

  2. Usually $50 for any size keg 1/4 barrel and 1/2 barrel.  Beer will usually cost about 80 bucks.  Then you have to rent the tap.  I don't know the cost because I bought one.

Out the door will run about 140-150.

PS,  you keep the keg if you want and you can take it any where you want to swap out for a full one which will avoid the deposit..  By keeping the keg you got it in the first place you lose your $50 deposit.

  3. you can buy keg most anywhere but you will need the tap and no deposit is required
