  1. bb gun or .22

  2. It can be very dangerous for the bird & yourself if you try and catch it.

If you feed him every day, he will stay around but PLEASE leave him free.

  3. I have successfully caught several escaped birds this way -

Wait until they came down close and blasted them with a spray from the hose. Wet birds can't fly too well, although they will try really hard to. If you have someone with you, 1 person can aim and soak (and you do need to soak instantly or it will fly away) and the other person needs to be ready with a net or towel to either catch it on the way down, or as soon as it lands.

It's a LOT easier with one of those spray nozzles that have the trigger...you can let the pressure build up (and birdie doesn't get scared off by the sound of the running water) and as soon as you get your chance let loose with a good strong spray.

    It does work

  4. dress up in a giant bird costume

and run around the yard squawking like a bird

  5. You can walk slowly behind it and throw a thin cloth over it suddenly. Then grab it LIGHTLY and pick it up. THe head must be popping out in the middle of your index and middle finger.

If not you can suddenly swop down and cover it with your both hands and pick it up. I play with my parakeet like that and it works espeacially when i want to put it back in the cage.

  6. try using a net or a towel

  7. dont catch it!!! i tried catching one before , and it got hold of my finger, and i had to get stitches and stuff

  8. get a long pool net ready and try not to hurt it. You could chase it for a long time but it's probably pretty strong by now and it would get away instead of tire. Try putting food out where it shows up and a little water, make it similar to what it would have in a cage, and a little nest area or birdhouse. If it keeps showing up there someday it might be easier to catch if it feels at home there.

  9. You can call some pet store keeper to help you with this problem, or you can use a long net. Make sure you don't harm the bird or yourself, as they do bite when frightened. Try baiting it with some food birds likes( apple, veggies, bird food). Good luck!

  10. I have two parakeets, I've had many over the years and the only way I've been able to catch them when they get out is to grab them.

They do tend to bite, so I say wear some thick gloves. Do the best you can and don't give up. It will be scared at first.

Set up a box or a cage with bird seed and water. See if the bird will go in it. You need to observe from inside for a while where the bird likes to sit. If you can put things there then you are more likely to catch it.

At least try to put out some food and water if you can't catch them, because they will die if you don't. If they realize that is the only place to get food then they will stick and around.

  11. I would suggest that you put a tin plate with bird seed sprinkled in it on a large surface (like patio table or something) and when the parakeet lands to munch on the free lunch, throw a towel over it and scoop it up, being careful that its wings are folded so you don't accidently break the wings.

It'll squawk like crazy and try to flutter its wings and act as if its dying but that's normal.

You might have to observe the parakeet's feeding time(s) for a day or two so you'll know when to have that towel handy...and of course already have the door leading to the backyard open - otherwise the parakeet will take off the moment you open that door.

  12. tried a fishing net? Leave it food they love seeds. If u dont get it the magpies will :)

  13. What you could do is get a square bird cage and take the bottom off of it. then take a wooden bird perch  or a wooden dowel and positioned it so the bird cage is sitting on the dowel on one end that the other end it on the ground (Its really hard to explain, sorry). You will then want to tie a clear fishing line to the dowel or perch and you want to run it to the door. There is normally a little hole at the bottom of the door that you will run the fishing line through. If not leave the door open alittle just so you can pull the line freely.

Put some bird seed under the propped up bird cage and wait for the parakeet to come. Once it does you want to pull the fishing line and   it will pull the dowel out and the cage will hopefully fall trapping the bird in it. You can then get the number off the band and take to places that sell birds to find out what to do next.

    Good luck!

  14. i would leave food out like all others have said leave it where you know you feel will be safe to catch him my be even calling him or try fruit i haven't meant a bird that has said no to fruit yet

  15. TRY PUTTING FOOD IN A CAGE AND TRAP IT
