  1. I run mine through the dishwasher.=)

  2. bleach them and dry them, its just better to chance every week sponges are really germ filled

  3. I give my sponges a good rinse and pop it in the microwave for 2 min or in the dishwasher for the entire cycle... I use sponges sparingly.. I wipe my countertops with antibacterial wipes BEFORE/AFTER meal preparation.  When I retire a sponge from the kitchen I demote it to cleaning the bathroom... Then it's tossed... Sponges are too expensive to just toss away!

  4. If a sponge gets that dirty, people usually just throw them away.

  5. This is weird - I thought you just threw them out when they get bad - sponges can be real breeding grounds for bacteria so whilst I'm pro-environment I still throw out my sponges when they're yukky!

  6. put them in a small container with antibacterial disinfectants inside

  7. I rinse mine daily with Lysol disinfectant cleaner and then put it in the microwave for 2 minutes. Also, if I've boiled water for tea or something I always add more water than I need so I can pour the boiling water over the sponge. After 3 weeks I replace it. Don't use your sponge to clean up messes, just use it to wash your dishes. Use paper towels and a disinfectant to wipe up spills and other stuff or get those handy Lysol or Clorox wipes. Always squeeze all the water out of the sponge so it can dry really good.

  8. Soak them in Milton antibacterial solution (the one you use to sterilise baby bottles) you can buy a cheaper home brand one.  This is also a great way to sterilise anything plastic.  Place a ceramic plate on top to fully immerse if they float to the surface and soak in a plastic container.

  9. I just wash them in washing up liquid , rinse then squeeze out as much water as possible because if left damp bacteria will well grow on it , and change regularly .

    Edit

I do not use bleach , we are using so many chemicals the days that our body are not able to cope with germs anymore , years ago before these cleaning products came on the market people didn't suffer from the affects of germs.

They just used natural cleaners that were safe for everyone.
