How do you fix Ethernet?

Question

My modem was struck by lightening and it was plugged in through ethernet, now there is an orange light back there instead of green. I have my DSL run through the USB and it works fine, is there a way to fix the ethernet on my computer?

if your connecting via usb then the modem is fine

nic cards are cheap just buy a new one it's toast

it could be the ethernet on the dsl modem that's broken not the computer. Usually it will go from lightning > phone line > modem > PC. So the modem will go before your computer. If it is your computer then a replacement card is very cheap and often times free after rebate.
