and do i have to buy a flyfishing rod or can i use a regular fishing poll.

in a forward and backward motion, hitting the positions of 10 'o clock and 2 'o clock on the swing. and yes, you need to buy a fly rod, they are longer and the eyes of the rod allow for the fly line (which is thicker than normal line, and can float or sink) to flow through easier as you cast. of course, you'll also have to buy a fly reel to hold the fly line. there are some cheap 40-50 dollar setups at wal-marts and big 5s that are fairly good for learning. if you want to go to a higher grade, you can check out 'Cabelas' - they have some good, mixed items to choose from.
