you seperate whatever you are braiding into three equal sections. then you take the left piece and cross it over the middle piece. that would make you left piece the new middle piece. next you put the right over the new middle piece. the original middle piece is now your left piece and you cross that over the middle piece. and so on and so on. just repeat to yourself while you braid. left over middle right over middle. the hardest part is configuring your hands to hold it.
