So tonight I am making guacamole. I have all the ingredients to make it but there is this one thing. I can not mash the alvacodos. I try blending, I used a fork, a food processor, everything. It just wont come out smooth, like the kind on the picture or at On the Borders. Is there a easy way I can do this? Somebody help me!! Please!!

  1. It doesn't have to be perfectly smooth, I use a potato masher and it comes out just fine.

  2. OK here is the answer - and it DOES need to be perfectly smooth.

Your avacados need to be perfectly ripe and you will find the quality of your guacamole will be hugely better from September - February.

Outwith this time however, if the guacamole is struggling add slowly to the blender lemon or lime juice - this is a chefs trick as will help "break down" the avacado and make it smoother.  Do this slowly, about a tablespoon initially then teaspoon at a time and you will be there.

Enjoy - and remeber to check your seasoning - this is actually the most essential part of the perfect guacamole...

  3. look it up on google.com

  4. Make sure that your avocados are soft and have sat a few days if they are not go to the store and pick up soft avocados so it will be smooth.  Also don't forget to add lemon juice to the guacamole or it will turn brown! Good Luck!!

  5. Your avocado was not quite ripe enough.  Does it taste okay ?  It may not be as smooth as you would have liked it, but it's probably fine the way it is  unless it was "really" unripe.  Don't worry about it too much.

  6. If you can't mash them then they're not ripe enough. When ripe they're very, very soft.

  7. Your avacodos probably weren't ripe enough, I always try to get them SLIGHTLY soft to the touch when gently squeezed.  Put your sour cream in with your avacado into food processor and blend until smooth, and a little lemon juice will keep it from turning colors on you.  After blending this until smooth then add anything else you want in it.  Some people like tomatoes and such, I just like the mix, the avacado and the sour cream, once and a while a little hot sauce.

    Good Luck!

  8. CHUNKY GUACAMOLE

    1/2 c. mayo

    1/2 c. sour cream

    2 tbsp. lemon juice

    1/2 c. minced onion

1 lg. tomato, skinned, seeded & chopped

    1 or 2 avocados, skinned & chopped

    Garlic to taste

    Salt & pepper to taste

Combine all ingredients. Refrigerate. Serve with taco chips. Hint: Avocado pit kept in dip will prevent discoloration.

  9. well your avocadoes probably arent ripened enough.....  usually the mash right in your fingers.... maybe try to microwave the avocadoes for 10 seconds at a tie... remember to soak the avocadoes in lime juice immediately to keep them from turning brown...
