How do you polish glass

My little girl likes to collect smooth glass that has been washed up on our beach, she has some beautiful colors and we would like to polish them up in to a pendant or such. Can someone tell us how we could do this?

It would be difficult for pieces so small to do by hand, but you can try a rock tumbler working with progressively finer grit and then finishing off with a Cerium oxide slurry either in the tumbler or by hand on a polishing cloth.

One of the appeals of beach glass is that it is all scratched up and smoothed out by the ocean sands. I'd leave it like it is.
