  1. 1. grab the zipper

    2.pull it down

  2. If you have windows xp or above you should just be able to double click the .zip file and a wizard will guide you through as in where you want the files to be unzipped to etc. If not then download winzip (winzip.com).

  3. You open up to the folder containing the .zip folder and right click on it, extract it.

  4. You should be able to right-click on the file and extract because a default zip handler is built into Windows. It won't open every file though and you may need to get something better.

I recommend using 7-Zip. 7-Zip is an open source file archiver with high compression ratio.

7-Zip has a strong community backing and unlike WinZip and WinRAR is completely free (contrary to popular belief WinRAR and WinZip are not free though you can download free trials).

  6. The website below will tell you step by step on how to unzip a file, and unzip for you.

  7. 1. right click on the file.

    2. click extract or unzip.

    3. It will pop up in a new folder.

  8. you need a Zip extractor to decompress the file as a Zip file is a compressed file format

I use AL-zip its an open source i.e. free software package, its easy to use and is a clone of Winzip

google al-zip and download from al-zips website (dont use the beta version as its unstable)

Download the file you wish to unzip click on the file and select to unzip it AL-zip will open automatically, select file/s you wish to unzip and click extract select destination for file to unzip to e.g. desktop or folder of your choice, allow AL-zip to work on unzipping the file/s this will take anything from a few seconds or minutes/hours depending on file size, how fast your computer is and if your computer is working on something else at the same time e.g. a virus scan

when the unzip is complete go to file on your computer and use the file or run the installer that has been created if it is a program that you have downloaded allow the program to install or file to set-up and you're good to go

if you are unsure of anything or get stuck email me
