How does a Democracy affect people?

The people who are citizens of a Democracy. How are they affected by the government? What things do people have to do because they live in a democracy?

  1. There is no such thing as a true Democracy.  A true Democracy would be Anarchy (absence of government) because we would have no authority figures.  Anarchy is a scary thing.


  2. A true democracy is supposed to allow the voices of all citizens be heard.  All people have a say in the government.  Of course when the population numbers grow this can get a little tricky.  

    In a democracy the government is supposed to be the people.  The actions of the government is supposed to represent the desires of the citizens.

    However, in the U.S. I think the government represents the interest of the working and poorer people less.  

    In the U.S. people don't have to do anything.  They are not forced to vote, it's a choice.  

  3. they no longer support the greater good of their country, instead everyone wants to see immediate benefits, as seen with populist politicians.  Just look at the debt, not good for our country, but we can borrow the money now.
