  1. Usually, this happens with venue, artist, team, or companies promoting/sponsoring an event. For example, cardholders of American Express can buy concert tickets ahead of the general public with AE's "Front of the Line."

It is generally a code that companies give out for their customers or listeners (radio stations) and they can buy it for less or ahead of the general public. There are a certain amount of tickets allotted for presale tickets and may not reflect the amount sold to the general public. For example, there are 1,000 tickets available. There are only 100 tickets allotted for presale from company (X) on Jan 3. The other 900 tickets are available to the general public on Jan 6.

The best bet is to see who is sponsoring the event and see if they are offering any presale codes. Sometimes, sponsers only have contests, etc to give away tickets. Best of luck!

For more information, you can go to the "What is an Internet Presale?" under the FAQ section of Ticketmaster.
