How does an electric fan work?

If you're in a hot room, which direction would you face the electric fan? Facing out the window or in the room?

i'd face it out. how does it work? just take it apart or just take one of them small electric engines u see in remote control cars

A fan can cool in several ways.

1. pushing air out of the room, which draws (hopefully cooler) air from outside to replace it.

2. Pulling in (hopefully cooler) air from outside to replace the air in the room.

3. Blowing air on your exposed skin cools you by evaporating perspiration.
