How does fedex work?

does it just ship directly to one person or does it collect packages from alot of places then diliver the to where they belong?

They use a hub system.  So in each larger city there is a central hub and smaller ones for local distribution.  The main hub for each city is usually located near the airport as they fly a lot of packages.

So small hub to larger, put on planes to other hub for sorting and distribution to other local hubs.

They use a combination of all those methods - its called logistics and supply chain management.
