  1. I walk to work....3 blocks.

  2. I live in midtown, near times square and work in downtown.  My commute, door to door, is about 25 mins.

  3. i ride a fricken bus

  4. I go 15 miles each way every day...it's not that bad...but think about taking the train it's easier

  5. NY traffic is bad.  It's not so much a question of distance, it's a question of what transportation is available.  If you can take PATH directly, for example, then you could live quite far away and be able to commute decently.

  6. It takes me an hour to get to my school.

  7. i commute to the closest city which is 5.7 miles and it take 15 minutes

  8. I commute 30 miles each way.

  9. I won't be of much help.  I only commute about 80 feet...lol

My husband only commutes 11 miles

    Sorry.

  10. How far out of the city you can live and commute is up to you. I live in North Jersey and commute to NYC (upper east side) for work everyday.  I take the train, bus and subway everyday and between all the transfers, traffic and getting through the crowds it's about two hours each way more or less.

  11. Depending on where.  But, you could be looking at an hour or so.

  12. You dont want to have to take more than 2 trains and a bus to work, especially at rush hour, you'll never arrive to work... Takes 2 hours for me to get to the Bronx from Brooklyn, and thats 1 train and a bus...

  13. I commute 600 miles to work every 2 weeks. I work on offshore oil rigs.

  14. I drive 65 miles one way and half of that is dirt road to work. I would say that the answer to you question is how much can you afford to be close to town and how much time do you want to spend in commute.

  15. depends on how far you're willing to drive

  16. I commute only 10 miles each way here in NJ. If you are working in NYC then you may have a problem.
