  1. Nothing yet. The peso is stable, but nothing really drastic.

  2. Felipe Calderon has only been on power for a year, there is not big results yet. He is fighting drugs like no one before him, and the consequenses are there , drug lords busted and a fight back from them to Mexican Authorities.

Helping the poor, thats a big task that will required years of reforms, including education, legal paralisis, boost investment to generate jobs, a better level of education in order to bring better paid jobs, infraestructure etc, etc,

Getting out of poverty is not goig to change in a long while.

  3. He hasn't.

    Quite the opposite!

  4. HE HAS HELPED IN THE BATTLE AGAINST DRUG CARTELS BUSTIN SOME IMPORTANT GUYS IN THE CARTELS

  5. So far, NOTHING!

He's a Carbon Copy of Vincente Fox and a Buddy of bush!

Oh yeah, he said Americans are not NICE to the ILLEGAL'S crossing thr Border.........GO FIGURE....

Then he's also pushing for that North American 'thingy' of "NO" Borders!!

    Ummm Hummm....

  6. I'll say that the economy is stable. If things were really bad, the peso would be collapsing the way it did in 1983 and to a lesser degree in 1994. Economy is kinda stagnant, but stable.

Can't expect him to do magic in just 1 year when a lot of the people weren't welcoming him to Los Pinos with their arms open. His party doesn't control the DF or State of Mexico governorships so he can't fix the infinite problems of Mexico City.

However, he's managed to do what Fox couldn't and ally with the PRI party congressmen for several important reforms and he's pushing to improve the ecological crisis the country.

Lately Mexico City has been more quiet (in somparison to just 1 year ago) and there's less manifestations than usual and Oaxaca has become quiet and perfectly safe again (that was a hard thing to do peacefully!!!). Drug cartel fighting has made drug related crimes less frequent than 6 months ago and for a country like Mexico to fully restore Tabasco in just 3 months after the state was literally ruined is something he can brag about.

The guy isn't charismatic or hot looking, but he's quietly getting some of the things the country need done. We won't really see the impact he's done with the country for another 3-4 years though. Lately getting work here is far easier for professionals than in the US.
