How is Germany for military spouse?

Germany is a great place as long as you learn the language and as much about the place as possible.

Hanging out with other people from your own country (assuming USA?) may drag you down, because they will constantly compare everything to "back home"

The standard and quality of living in Germany is much higher than in the US on average.

A lot depends on where you will be stationed, and if you are Air Force or Army? In Germany there is an area around Kaiserslautern which the Americans call 'K-Town' that includes Ramstein Air Base. There you can find many businesses that cater to the American Military. But, to answer your question; If you accept the fact that you are not living in America and can adapt a bit to a different culture you will have a wonderful time. I knew a military spouse who was interested in sewing. She spoke no German, but joined a German Quilting Club, a few years later she spoke pretty good German, and was making some extra pocket money with her Quilts and other sewing. If you want to get healthy, you can certainly do that in Germany. There are walking clubs that organize walks thru the local country side. Just about every city and town has an indoor&outdoor swimming pool. Bicycling is very common thru out Europe. In other words if you get up the courage and get off the base you can have a wonderful time! Plus, you have the advantage of  the American 'Way of Life' in that you can shop on Sunday and Holidays at the PX&Commisary. I live and work in Germany, but no connections with the US Military so I do not have access to those luxuries.  

As the first answer mentioned, learning some German would be helpful. You do not need to know a lot because many Germans speak English. But, if you make the effort to try and speak their language it helps.
