How is Portland Oregon like?

Im planning on going to college somewhere like a university but i want to be in a state thats real nice too. My parents want me to go to california like UCLA or whatevers but i think california is just way to overpopulltated.and i was thinking about Portland stat univeristy.

I seen some videos of portland on youtube and wow it looks really really nice.Looks like London or something since they have those trains and yah.Anyone living there how is it like?Are people nice and friendly? OH btw are there any asians?because im asian and i dotn wanna feel like im the only asian and what not.

Portland is a great place to live, and a great place to go to school.

There is plenty of opportunity to socialize, lots of places to go out,

and great public transportation - especially from the west side to

downtown - takes you right to PSU.  Lots of apartments, etc.

Lots of Asians, and other ethnicities too.

People seem to think that it rains all the time, but thats not true.

Rains in the winter mostly - instead of snow - but the occasional snow

storm brings most of the traffic to a halt (lots of californians).

Lots of fun activities downtown - lots of clubs, theatres, dancing,

and GREAT restaurants.  Portland State University is right downtown,

and makes for easy access to many of the restaurants and wonderful

shopping there.  Cost of living is a little high, but if you get roomies,

you can manage a very nice place to live.
