  1. I don't have any experience with the HD65 but I just got a new HD70 and it is awesome!  The specs on this one looks good and I have attached a link to specs and reviews.

  2. Unfortunately, because the Optoma HD65 is an entry-level projector, it does not contain its own deinterlacer and instead, relies on the deinterlacer of DVD players using the progressive setup.  It becomes especially a problem when viewing video tv feeds because most cable boxes and satellite controllers do not process incoming video images.  So you'll see a lot of video jaggies as a consequence for the lack of an effective deinterlacer.  You'd be far better off to purchase a high grade Optoma unit with either a built-in Faroudja or Pixel Works deinterlacer.

    Good luck!

  3. The HD65 is a great projector with lots of GRUNT for the entry level unit.  It performs well and seems to be very reliable.  If you are buying it in Australia be careful to purchase a unit which is Imported by Amber Technology as there are other importers who are not authorized by the manufacturer and the service and support may not be as good as the authorized distributor.

Check for an C-Tick sticker and Amber Badge on the base of th eunit before purchasing.  If in double call Amber 1800 251 367.
