I am considering buying the dodge charger sxt, I was wondering if anybody can tell me how it drives and if it is worth buying it etc...

And does the sxt trim come with tiptronic as an option?

Anyways, any advice from professionals and/or drivers of this vehicle, please help thanks.

  1. fast tonnes of power but a liitle heavy. pure mustle car

  2. Highs: Acceleration, braking.

Lows: Fuel economy, steering feel, ride, turning circle, visibility, IIHS side-crash w/o curtain air bags.

This sedan offers a powerful 5.7-liter Hemi V8, making it quick but returning only 17 mpg overall. The 3.5-liter V6 provides ample performance and returned 19 mpg. The ride is stiff, and frequent ride motions make the car feel unsettled. The overly light steering makes the large Charger darty and demands constant attention, although handling is ultimately secure. The otherwise-roomy rear seat has marginal head room. A 6.1-liter, V8-equipped SRT8 is also available. IIHS crash-test results were poor when tested without the optional curtain air bags. Reliability improved to average for the V8 and above average for the V6.

    Dodge Charger SXT

I have the pas/esp handling package and it is awesome. MPG was not nice at first but about 7500 miles I started getting 17-18 miles around town and 26 MPG on the open road as long as I didn't attempt to break the sound barrier... The stereo is really really good..

    SXT

Backing up. The visiblilty when backing this car up is limited. The back end just seems to block everything.

    SE

    Pros:

I have the SE plus (3.5L HO V6)package which is an awesome package above the standard SE but not as much extra money as moving to the SXT. I purchased 12/07, This is my 1st "Car" always had trucks. With gas prices I had to do something. Great power from the 3.5L @ 250HP!! Great four door sports car Smooth ride from the wide stance, you don't feel small on the road at all. Great looking car which reminds you of what AMERICAN muscle was (although car is made in canada) With the Charger, Challenger,Mustang, 09 Camaro - Not all decent fuel sedans have to look like a Camry. With the charger you can speed around on a sunday drive, or take the family out to dinner. Great

    Cons:

Typical Car company cost saving stuff ...No hood struts(old school prop bar), No factory tint.

    Overall Review:

If you are looking for a fuel friendly (18-24mpgs) sports car that you can zip around or long drives on that also doubles as family car the Charger is a beast. Smooth ride. I suggest the SE plus package, With all the rebates + the lifetime powertrain warranty GREAT DEAL. with $4 per gallon gas forget the 5.7L/6.1 hemi ...get the SEplus with 250hp and enough power to feed that hunger of being a fake racer :-)

    SXT

    Pros:

I have the Charger SXT model. The 3.5L V6 engine has outstanding horsepower for this vehicle 250hp. The ride is very smooth on long trips. The front seats are very comfortable and make you feel secure in them. The gas mileage for this size for car is great. On the first tank in my Charger I got 21 mpg, that was in December of 2007 and now in March 2008 I get an average of 24mpg (I would probably get better mileage if I did not have a heavy foot). On long Trips, I got up to 26mpg and that was going up and down hills.

    Cons:

I do not recommend getting the Charger with the 2.7L engine. I test drove one and it did not have the horsepower you needed to get on the freeway in heavy traffic.

  3. lots of power, lots of problems...average dodge.  uses lots of gas. wish I waited for the new camero.
