I have 2 cousins, and theyre 6'2. Their parents are around 5'4. How did they get WAY taller than their parents? I thought it was genes from your parents that control height

  1. im like my dad and bigger than my mom

  2. Height is governed primarily by genetics.  Nutrition also has an effect.  Genetic characteristics can skip generations.  If any their grandparents were tall they could have inherited genes for their height from them. See: http://www.newton.dep.anl.gov/askasci/mo... for some scientific insights on genetics and height.

  3. Maybe they exercised more.

  4. My parents are 5'2" and I am 5'9". My uncles are tall so I guess I get it from them. It depends on family history.

  5. Your cousins are adopted hahah

  6. my mother is 4'11" and father is 5'4" I am 6'2".

  7. it is in the genes but you dont get it from just your parents but both sets of grandparents so if eith one or both are tall then your cousins could be tall

  8. It is genes. But you get genes from both parents and their genes are from THEIR parents. So your cousins may have gotten their height from grandpa or great grandma.  Can also vary quite a bit even among brothers and sisters. My dad was about 5'9 and his brother was 6'3. Two sisters were 5'8 and two were just barely above 5'.

  9. i dont think that its genes but it might be.
