How long do shortboards last?

i was wondering how often you needed to buy a new shortboard. how long it takes them to break,delaminate,get waterlogged,ect i try to take pretty good care of my boards

  1. It is strictly a matter of how ell made the board is, and how well you treat. I have a 6'4" twin fin that I had made for me in the early seventies, that I didn't put on the wall until '92 or '93.


  2. depending on how good you treat it and how hard you ride it. if you thrash it probs around 6months but if it is pretty mellow it can go for years. if it is damaged and you fix it quickly it will last forever but wont look that pleasing to the eye. if you dont surf massive waves and too hard just aim for one a year.

  3. yes they can last long. if you want it to last longer get a case to put it in so it doesnt get all banged up. if you want a surfboard that never gets bumps or cracks and never really has something bad done to it, get an epoxy short, impluse there cheaper these days.

  4. 2-3 years if you repair all the dings immediately and keep it out of the sun and hot conditions.
