  1. You need to get a BS, which takes four years.  You can major in anything as long as you take the Pre-Vet courses.  Then you need to go to Vet school for four years to get your doctorate.

Vet school is the single hardest graduate program to get into (much harder than medical school).  There are only 28 Vet schools in the US.  They reserve all but a few slots for students in their state or a state that has a contract with them -- so there are probably only a couple of Vet schools that would consider you.

The following link will give you more information on what is required.

  2. Most colleges offer pre-vet programs. I believe you take those for 4 years and then apply to vet school after that.

  3. Six years, biology, chemistry, physics, anatomy, physiology, hygiene, behavioural sciences, take your pick.....or take them all... I did, this is for England, and there are a very small number of schools and even fewer places, in each, but if you have any sense get the Officer training corp, to look into paying your way, for the military still have need of vets....here and America....a BSc is not a prerequisite, but it will be an assist if you do, but many enter from the" A levels" they receive at school....hence the six years of training....it is possible to gain credits under the Credit Accumulation Transfer Scheme, ( CATS),as well, and at least one US vet has been trained in this Country, however they need to have their US qualifications scrutinised, first for equivalency....

  4. First you need to improve your writing.

Capitalize the first word in a sentence.  Capitalize the pronoun I.

Avoid ending a sentence with a preposition.

You're choice of words is rather poor as well.  How many years of study? is better than "how long for vet school?".

You will be required to have an undergraduate degree in a hard science major such as biology, chemistry or others with very good grades.

Each school of veterinary medicine has it's own course prerequisites such as a certain number of credits in chemistry and what type of chemistry and many other prerequisites.

Most USA veterinary schools are four years in duration and lead to the professional degree D.V.M.   The University of Pennsylvania is unique in the degree is V.M.D.

So this is a total of eight years of education.  Four years of undergraduate education and four years of professional school.

Competition is fierce for entrance into all schools of vet. med.

It's also very expensive.  Good Luck
