-------will the present IPL competition last, & what will the Indians here talk about when it's over? lol, every Q is about it. Surely it must soon loose it's novelty value?

Make no mistake - it is here to stay.

Not only stay - it will grow beyond the boundaries of the Nation.

Will it be named IPL or something else that's for the future.

The format is there to stay. The rules may alter within the framework - but the short form will be there.

Cricket is a sport afterall... purist may or may not like the new format.. there will be new "customer"s for this - and that's huge for Cricket itself!

Money will follow where the fans would go... Looks like all are enjoying the format and the "fun" that comes with it.

I suspect the entertainment parts (the dancing and fireworks and other non-cricketing extravaganza) would reduce for future regularly scheduled games.. may be those will be reserved for the "grand" tournaments - similar to ODI world-cups.

Who should complain if we have fans as well as players for 20/20, ODI and Test cricket. May be not everybody will like or follow each forms of the game - but as long as all of those are sustainable - more people will be happy!

Hey  Brads fan, the competition  will  last  till June 1 2008

I guess, after  that  some other series involving India  will begin

It  will  be  a  tour  coz  June  to  September is rainy season in

India.

Btw--    There  is  a  tri  series  in  June  involving India,Pak,Bangladesh

in Pakistan  and  Bangladesh

and  also  the  Asia Cup in June

then India-SL  3 test  series in Lanka  in July

So this  cricket section will  be busy.

i think with this IPL,all the Indians who were actually quite before has started asking q's related only to this IPL. They will become silent once again once it gets over,i feel.  

I hope all our boys do well. Read Huss got a century. How i wish it was for the national team and not for IPL.lol

IPL game will only last 8 weeks in a year, this year it's what all indians can talk about as it's only new and exciting for them coz it makes them very proud knowing that India started IPL but I think next year the novelty will worn out and they'll getting sick of it as it's not really cricket after all, there is no substance in it, just having fun.

And what happens when most players won't be available to play IPL?  then it wont be exciting wouldn't it? the only thing that makes it exciting is the foreighn players.  I gotta admit I've watched two games (the one that Ponting, Symmonds was on) and I find it quite fast and no talent or skills just bunch of boys hitting the ball with a bat...  oh, the one that Brendon mccullum was on was quite interesting (coz he was batting lol) it was quite fun to watch but only because my favourite players are in it..
