How many RMS total?

if i have 2 600watt rms and a 1200watt amp peak how much rms is my system cuz i cant figure out if i need an alt battery or what my subs just cut off every once and a while

  1. Usually the rms is half of what is the peak. so in this case, your speakers are 300Wrms and your amp is 600Wrms.

    The reason why the speakers are cutting out is because the amp is more powerful than the speakers. I recommend a lower powered amp, or speakers that are more powerful than the amp.

    You should always have speakers that can handle more power than the amp can provide. ie 400w speakers on a 300w amp or 800w speakers on a 600w amp. dont think of it as a waste, trust me it will sound better as there is less distortion.
