I'm curious about public opinion and knowledge.

How many of the people who read this question (you) know that we made a deal with the Sunnis in Iraq that we would leave if they agreed to fight Al Qaeda until we withdrew?

  1. um...thats what we've been training them for this whole entire time.....

  2. Oh really, I didn't know that.

  3. Have you got any sources for your information?  If this were correct I'm sure we'd have known more about it.

  4. I'm guessing you're in the military and you just told us something they didn't want us to know.

  5. i think i did.

  6. Sounds bogus to me!  My common sense tells me that the U.S. didn't request a religious group to engage in war against terrorism.  The Sunnis are only a religion that exists within Islam, not an entity of arms.  But, I am not saying that is impossible, but very unlikely.  It is like asking the Protestants to engage war against our adversaries.  The reason why the Sunnis have been in violent protest because it was against another religious group.  Just as the Mormons massacred the Christians at Mountain Meadows-well not that violent but same regards of detest betweeen two religions.

  7. No, it was not said we came to an agreement with the Sunnis in Iraq. We are in discussion's with the Iraq Government about a withdraw date. Nothing more than that.

  8. yeah.....me too.

  9. No. The mukhtars (chiefs) of the Sunni tribes in Al Anbar and Diyalah Provinces created the "Awakening" to fight Al Queda because the members of Al Queda are (allegedly) Sunni Muslims. But, the actions of Al Queda are a Harram (offense against the Koran). The young Sunni joined "Abna'a Al Iraqi" (Sons of Iraq) to be a mix between paramilitary and "neighborhood watch" in their towns and villages. So, if you heard otherwise through some news report from a U.S.-based outlet, try to recall how many of the Arabic words I just used were used in that report. I venture to say the answer is none.

You say you are curious about public knowledge and opinion. Though I'm not a Muslim or of Arabic ethnicity, I try to learn what's going on without relying on the reports of some guy who spends most of his time inside the Palestine Hotel in Baghdad's Green Zone. And my opinion of such reporters and the authenticity report is lower than whale f***s!

  10. I didn't know before.
