partied hard and drank (got drunk) when they were in high school/ college and are now successful with a good job and a good life??? (give details)

Like many college students, I attended my share of parties. Now, I may have one drink a month, if that.  I enjoy a glass of beer or a glass of good, dry wine with a nice dinner, but I don't drink to get drunk.  I like to enhance the flavor of a good meal and nothing more. I may go months and not drink at all.

I partied hard and stopped cold turkey when I was ready to be an adult.  Now I only have the occasional drink (as in maybe once a week).  It is up to YOU how you want to be.

I never drank alcohol till I was an adult, married in fact. I guess my parents were just more sensible than others about it.

Most people overindulge in alcohol when they are young.  Most will become "functional" alcoholics which means they will drink too much, and be unable to stop drinking even if they want to, but will still be able to hold down a job and live a reasonably productive life.

A smaller number will become dysfunctional alcoholics.  A small number will not drink as adults either because they don't care to or because they had to quit due to addiction.

The fact that you are asking the question indicates that you do have a problem and you are worried about your alcohol consumption.

My friend's husband drinks a twelve pack of beer every day.  He holds down a job just fine, but he's a total drunk and it makes his wife very very sad.  They have a kid together and that boy will probably grow up to be a drunk just like his dad.
