How messed up is this relationship?

My best friend's ex boyfriend is dating his best friend's sister who is almost 19. Hes 17, but shes got a kid and another one on the way, with a guy that he used to be friends with? She is a b!+ch, and honestly with how many times her and her babies' daddy cheated on each other I wouldn't go near that. Like I heard that he would even cheat on her with other guys and such. And the girl has an 8th grade education, according to her brother. My best friends ex used to be one of my good friends, I know he's not in love with her, so why would he get himself into this situation?

Maybe he wants to feel important. Being with this girl whos been hurt emotionally and shes got two kids... one on the way. Maybe he wants to feel like the hero and take on all that responsibility because hes never done it before. Im sure there are a lot of answers to why exactly hes pursuing that kind of relationship. Maybe he hasnt exactly felt in charge and important in his life. Taking on a relationship with her and her kids would definitely give him that kind of feeling with all of them relying on him.
