The Canon d40 + Lens kit...

Actually I am not sure which lens kit should I go for, Sometimes multiple choices can confuse you, but my main work is portraiture, indoors, some landscapes and very few macros..

Which lens kit should I go for? and how much is the budget then?

  1. I assume your looking at the Canon 40D. I have to ask if this is your first SLR. If it is I recommend you go with one of the Rebel series cameras like the XTi or XSi. They are easier to use for a beginner and you can take your extra money and buy another nice lens.

If your set on the 40D I would go with the EF 28-135 IS USM lens as the kit. It is a great lens for portraits and just general walking around.

Most kit lenses will be an 18-55mm lens. This equates to a 28-90mm lens on a 35mm camera. The lens goes from slightly wide angle to slight telephoto. It is good for 80% of what the average person shoots. The 28-135 lens mentioned above is a better lens but it is lacking on the wide angle end. You need to ask yourself if you will need the wide angle or not and can you afford to get a good wide angle lens like the Canon 10-22 mm in addition to the 28-135.

    Prices:

    40D with 28-135 $1,129.00

    XTi with 18-55mm $674.00

    XSi with 18-55mm IS $829.00

All of these cameras will produce top quality photographs. If you used the same lens there woulld be little if any difference in the quality of the photographs. The lens is much more important than the camera body.

    I hope this helps.

P.S. The prices are from B&H Camera see the link below.
