  1. Bute isn't good for horses. People keep saying give a dose here, give a dose there. I have two VERY good examples of why NOT to use bute...My friends horse nearly died from just a SLIGHT overdose of bute (thanks to a crappy redneck vet) He had some minor ulcers that no one knew about and the bute completely set them off. He also was on Banamine, the two together can really harm a horse's stomach + the horse had some minor ulcers...once again thanks to the vet the horse nearly died and his owners spent THOUSANDS to save him

Another horse at my barn was given a daily dose of bute, and he was literily rotting from the inside out o.O you could just spell it OMG it was horrible.

(this was at my old barn and one was thr OWNER giving it so we could do nothing and the other was a vet who I guess didn;t think things through)

Bute can be very harmful unless prescribed by a GOOD vet. I wouldn;t give your Mini any unless your vet told you the amount...and obviously he didn't if you are asking.

If he is in enough pain that you want to give him bute then you shoukld call the vet.

I don;t mean to sound mean I would just hate for something simular to happen to your Mini, like what happened in my expeiences.

GOOD LUCK and BE SAFE :)
