Ummm it actually depends on the City or Area you live in...some Firemen get paid more in New York than in some lonley town (cant think of one right now) but you get what I mean...the Demand is more in New York because of the Higher and more dangerouse places to catch fire. But here in OC, Ca they make like 60-80 K....and the Cheifs make like 100K +

I get $27 an hour.  That's before night or Sunday differential.

Top grade firefighters make more.

Starting pay in some departments is $14 an hour.

Other departments start their recruits at 64K a year.

It depends largely on where you live.

depends on the city and department......also if you go into training lets say to get your emt before you start the actual firefighter training you get payed less. a lot of testing goes into becoming a payed firefighter and even then you are put on a list and have to wait until your # (depending on your class rank) is called.

tax dollars go to them.

plus they're volunteers, they don't have a salary they just get paid at the end of the year

Some get paid nothing, these are volunteers: Others depend on the size of the town or city they work for, these are professionals! It is more than I get paid at Wal-Mart.
