That would depend upon just how good you are and there is many different levels of earning and if you happen to be in Australia you will be lucky to get a couple of hundred thousand a year and only about 6 pro riders will be on that amount.  

The best in America do make in the millions but there are so many others that make little money.

I heard back in 2005 or 6 that he signed a 6 million dollar contract for the year.

I heard that Carmichael made 10 million a yr...that was at the twilight of his career...but carmichael was dominant outdoors also, 150 total wins...most EVER in the sports history

back in 2003 honda paid carmichael $1,000,000 per season and a bonus of $1,000,000 per championship won.

that's not including sponsors or race win bonus's.

i would say they earn a lot more now-a-days...
