I was watching Letterman last night and he joked that gas was 18 cents a gallon in Kuwait. It was only a joke, but it got me wondering if there was any truth to that. What are your thoughts on the matter?

  1. gas in very cheap in oil producing countries, that is true.  When I was in Iraq I think it was 25cents per gallon.....that was during the first war

  2. it's 25 cents a gallon..

you gotta realize.. there is no "supply problem" ..

the only problem here is price fixing.. thats what opec does.. that s what the oil companys in the usa want.. HIGH OIL PRICES>> HIGH PROFITS...

    there's no "shortage" that's just c**p.

  3. Interesting that gas was only 25 cents at one time.  Quite a markup by the time it gets to other countries.  I wonder who is making all the profit.

  4. Let me share a fact with you - in Dubai's oil station the price of a gallon of petroleum is 2/3 of a 500ml bottled distilled water. Ridiculous?

Uneven distribution of natural resources has long been a global problem. While there would be price hike or slump at times, our daily life can easily be controlled by opportunistic resources owners, and we always have little say on striking the equilibrium price.

Sometimes when you re-think of how to live in an environment-friendly way, you will realize the ultimate reason is to get rid of the dilemma in resources distribution - that's why resource owners are used to be frontiers to reject environmental protection.
