How much should it be?

i am in band and i am going to play the trumpet. How much should a good trumpet be?

The more expensive it is, the more better the trumpet will be. Don't buy one second hand unless it's from someone your trust. Depending on your skill level, you should get more expensive trumpets. If you are very experience, get one that's at least one thousand dollars. If you're just a beginner, a three hundred dollar one will do just fine. However, you'll have to replace it in about five years.

Are you in a marching band? If so, get a light trumpet. If you won't be moving though, get a heavier one. Heavier trumpets make a lighter sound.

Don't buy from a cataloge or the Internet. Actually go to the store and try them out first. Each person has different tastes and ranges. Furthermore, ask if they do any follow up after you buy the trumpet. If they can help you maintain it and clean it every once in a while.
