How not to overdo smalltalk?

i read an article on how to smalltalk but i find myself, asking to much and i can't shut up how can i avoid this

I know, but if you ask quite a few questions, people love it cuz they feel interesting :)

Also, maybe just smile, make eye contact with them and only talk a little - that's still communication. You will also seem kinda mysterious and cool!!!!

actually having something interesting to say instead of making small talk ussually helps avoiding small talk
