  1. to hit holes or gaps you have to read the defense. Usually you will try to get an overload on the outsids, which means you have more players then they do. If one defensive player is up to far, or one back to far then that is your gap. It is basically a visual thing. Say you do a 12 crash which means the inside center runs straight ahead, therefore the other teams 10 and 12 must tackle him, then your 10 loops around and get the ball back. Now you have on your team 10, 13, 14, and 15 (the fullback) against the other teams 13,14 and 15. The fullback(15) can catch the ball on the outside of the 13, but in the inside of the 14, therefore the other teams 13 must cover your 10, the 14 must cover the 13, and the 15 has to cover you and your wing (14). The hole is between the 15 and sideline. You can either cut to the sideline and scissor your 14, or go up field and unload the ball to your 14 when i get tackled as he goes to the sideline. Ypu have many choices. But basically a hole is created when a plaer on defense is too far up or too far back and not flat like they should be.
