  1. I use to have the same problem... I did a combo of 2hrs dancing every other day. then cardio and strength training on my off days. you won't get to bulky with the strenghth training if you stretch a lot during the ab work. push ups etc. and i don't drink pop, don't eat lots of desert (mainly because i dont like sweets). youll seea huge difference in like 6 weeks. if you do your technique right plies, fouette etc you will get super anmounts of toning form that too.

  2. Well dancing helps.

  3. Just dance and you'll get in the right shape. Really !

  4. what kind of dance are you doing??? Sometimes, a little bit of fat is good. that way you don't damage anything...

DON'T GO ON ANY CRASH DIETS EITHER!

Just work out, and eat healthy.

  5. Yea, you do look a little heavy on your avatar. I suggest you stop eating for a few days.

  6. dont worry about it. dancing, as long as you do it enough, makes it almost impossible to be overweight. all you have to do is make sure you eat right (which includes eating enough!) and work hard in class. you might want to do crunches or other excercises outside of class though.

  7. dance, dance and more dance, eventually you work off all your fat

  8. not all ballet dancers are super thin. Actually...some of the best dancers I have known at my studio have not been really thin.

But if you do want to become fit and a little bit thinner...just eat a healthy balanced diet, drink plenty of water, and balance it all out with a fair amount of exercise.

Never go extreme on any of this though...many times for ballet dancers it can lead to an eating disorder. Take it from someone who has been there...you don't want to go down that road.

  9. Ballet will help with the areas of the stomach thighs and arms.

Ballet will emphasize a strong core (the stomach area) and your dancing will be affected by your core. You will be performing conditioning (such as crunches / butterflies) to work out your core.

Your thighs will be worked out through Pliés (basically ballet squats) and all the other ballet routines (since ballet uses a lot of leg work!).

Ballet also focuses on isolating movement on the arms, moving the arms as if there are invisible restraints.

In my opinion, ballet will be an excellent choice to toning your physique.
