How to buy a surfboard?

im 5'8 135 # and want to get a new shortboard,not a longboard,..i want to learn how to surf ,but i like aggresive and fast surfing...i need to buy a light board...what do you guys reccomend?

you want to learn to surf. but you like aggressive fast surfing. if you cant surf, you wont be doing anything fast for a while. youll need lessons on a bigger board and gradually move down. if you cant surf really well yet. dont buy a board. coz you seriously will need a mini mal or a mal to get the basics but you will want a short board wen you are better. in any case. go to a shaper. tell them how good you are and wat you are lookin for. they will do the rest

I would definitely sign up for some lessons before you drop a few hundred bucks on a new board. Longboards are generally much easier to learn on, but that doesn't mean learning on a shorter board is out of the question. Try it out first, see if you really like it, and ask your instructor for some professional advice. Also, any good surf shop will be happy to make recommendations. As for fast, aggressive surfing, that will come with time; practice makes better.
