  1. Average tip is 15% - and it is calculated pretax!

  2. 0% = terrible service haitr in food etc

    10% = poor service

    15% ok

20% All was good and and as should be.

    I usually give 20%

  3. It depends on where you are.  In my town, our state & local taxes add up to 7.5%, so I just double it to get the standard 15%.  When I go out of town, I find the easiest thing to do is to figure out what 10%, then add half of that to the original 10% calculation.  You can also just use your cell phone's calculator (it doesn't have to be a tip calculator).  Just multiply your bill total by .15 to get a 15% tip amount.

  4. The standard gratuity is supposed to be 15%.  Good service may warrant 20 or 25%.  Bad service should get 10%.

Many cel phones do have the tip calculator.  My wife has a card she carries in her purse.

I generally do the math in my head.  To get 15%, divide by ten then cut that number in half and add the half back to the tenth.  ($14 check, $1.40 + $0.70 = $2.10).  20% is easier, divide by ten and double it.  ($14 check, $1.40 * 2 = $2.80)  25% is just divide by 4.  ($14 check, 14/4=3.5)

  5. just multiply yur total by .15 or whatever u wanna give, then thats yur tip!

  6. Calculation of Gratuity:   Last 10 months average salary is taken.  15 days salary for each completed year of service is worked out, the maximum amount of gratuity payable in India as per Gratuity Act is Rs 3,50,000/-

  7. The formula for calculating gratuity is 1/2 months salary every year. But the employee must complete five years of service in an organisation. {last drawn salary(during retirement)/2}* number of years of service

  8. The customary way of doing it is:

    10% for decent service

    15% for great service

    20% for exceptionally awesome service

A lot of restaurants automatically add a 15% gratuity for parties of 8 or 10 or more to the bill.

In an informal restaurant a lot of people just double the sales tax on the bill and round off.  Quick easy way to do it.  You usually then fall somewhere around the 10% - 15%.

  9. If you're asking how to do it in your head instead of using a calculator, then I look at it like this. It's easier to multiply things in your head by .10. And you'll most likely give 10, 15, or 20%. So if you're giving the typical 15% you just multiply the bill by .10, and then add 1 and a half times the amount.

So if your bill is $23.34....

    Then $2.33 or $2.34 is approximately 10%. So 15% would approximately be $2.34 + $1.17, which is $3.51.

    20% would be $2.34 + $2.34, which is $4.68.

Just simplify the math in your head, and break it up into easier problems.

  10. If I don't feel like pulling out my cell phone to calculate I just double the tax, which is 8%.  It gives the server a 16% tip.  That is a good amount.

  11. Some phones actually have the tip calculation on their phone, but if you dont just take 15% of the total amount.  I think the average americans give 10%, but be nice and give 15%.

So if your total is 13.00 multiply that .15 and that is your tip amount.

  12. A lot of phones actually have a thing called a tip calculator.  This is very easy to do.  Just go to your menu, select tools, then scroll to see if you have a tip calculator.  If you do not have one it is still reasonably easy to calculate.  Just take your total amount x 10-20 percent.  10% if service is somewhat decent.  15% if service is service is good. And 20% if service is great.
