  1. toothpaste; soak in ammonia the scrub with toothbrush; baking soda scrub; jewelry cleaner. any of them work like a charm

  2. Hand lotions, hair styling products and everyday grime can leave a film on your diamond that keeps it from sparkling. Those materials can even accumulate into a thick layer of gunk on the back of the stone if you wait too long between cleanings.

Diamonds are the hardest substance known, but coatings and other materials used to enhance them can sometimes be removed by harsh cleansers and vigorous scrubbing, making it even more important to clean the gems with care.

Do you know if treatments were applied to your diamond before it was placed in a ring setting? If you do, that's great, because it means you've probably done enough research to know how to keep the ring clean without damaging it.

  3. For a really deep cleaning, you can take it to a jewelry repair shop. Some people run theirs through steam cleaners. Have you thought of wearing it on a chain while at work, so that it doesn't get dirty?

  4. Warm water + baby toothbrush.

Its just soap scum thats making the ring dirty. You hardly need harsh chemicals to get rid of soap! Be gentle when you clean it, and take it to the jeweler at least once a year to clean it and check the setting.

  5. Just buy a little jar of jewelery cleaner.  It cleans quickly and is easy.  My husband just read in a magazine over the weekend that you can also use vodka to clean jewelery and diamonds.

  6. Soak it in hot water w/windex in it and then use a soft toothbrush to clean under the diamond. That's pretty much what all the jewelry stores use....it's almost exactly the same as the cleaner they sell you....I know, I worked at one.

  7. Warm water, a baby tooth brush, and a soft cloth work best.

    Congrats on the engagement!

  8. I swear by : Connoisseurs Jewelry Cleansing Gel and Brush.  It also comes in a different version.  You can get it at Wal-Mart and probably Target, too.  I use it for all my diamonds/gems.  It's amazing and I was referred to it by a jewelry store.
