How to connect laptop to tv?

i have M1530 laptop and 42 inch tv, they both have HDMI ports, if i get a HDMI-HDMI cable will i be able to connect my laptop to my tv??? my tv also has VGA port, whould i get a HDMI-VGA cable? which one will work and which one is better?

  1. That should work.  HDMI is MUCH better quality than VGA, so just go with the HDMI cable.  Also remember to switch the display from laptop screen to output (usually LCD/CRT button).
