Question:

How to consume wormwood?

Wormwood is the active, mind altering herb in Absinthe. I noticed my local health food store sells the herb in bulk. I am curious if making a tea from wormwood would have an effect? Are there other ways to consume wormwood?

Thanks,

  1. Wormwood is one source of thujone, the much talked about "mind altering" drug.

Fact of the matter in Absinthe is it never had enough thujone in it, at any time in history even today (even the European ones), to get anywhere near the threshold of effect without also getting a lethal dose of alcohol.  You would be so far beyond wasted and still need to drink more to reach the bear minimum level of thujone to get any of the mind alterting effects.

My suggestion?  Find some sage oil.  It has a much higher thujone content than wormwood.

  2. I think you've had enough tea for now, Daredevil.

    ;)

  3. Oh my dark queen, please, if you do not know how to use this, do not try. I would feel safer drinking Ouzo. And NOT ALONE! If you have not ever consumed alot of it anyway.

The last time I drank ( lil bit tooo much ) Ouzo, I ha the same sorts as Absinthe creates.

  4. crush it into a fine powder with a coffee bean grinder. sprinkle on pringles or wheat thins. then put a finely sliced piece of smoked gouda cheese on top. eat it. follow with a grape. all of these vitamins and minerals together will send you to outerspace.

  5. thujone is the "active ingredient" in absinthe..

thujone is found in several plants.. wormwood being one of them..

absinthe only contains small amounts of thujone..

wormwood tea is used for stomach pain.. i doubt you will get any notable buzz...

maybe dump it in a bottle of everclear...

in my experience absinthe has no real effects other than getting you drunk, ive tried it several times...

i would hardly call it "mind altering" like i said i have traveled the world and drank absinthe a bunch of times..

here is are a few recipes for absinthe if you are intrested..http://www.newspeakdictionary.com/pf-abs...
