How would I convert lbm to lbf. For example 3 tons(2000 lb/1 ton) = 6000lbs. How would I do this to lbm and lbf.

  1. You don't have enough information.

  2. you'll need to multiply the mass with the gravity acceleration constant (in British unit) g = 32.174 ft/s2

    so:

    6000lbs x 32.174 ft/s2 = 193044 lbs ft / s2 = 193044 lbf

    (lbf = lbs ft / s2)

it is just like converting kg to N (kg.m/s2). You need to multiply the mass with the gravity acceleration constant (in the same unit)
