How to feed a tortoise?

How much should I feed my one-year old russian tortoise if I only feed her once a day? I currently give her a handful of pre-cut country greens from lucky's every morning, (i've had her for about two and a half weeks) and about three pre-cut leaves in the evening for a snack. She usually finishes it all by the next morning. Is this to much food? to little? Any replies would be extremely appreciated.

  1. Russians can overeat easily, and you want her growth to be slow and even.  I would say to feed her no more than once a day.  I feed mine every other day.  This is the best site for Russian tortoise care.

  2. It would depend on the size of the tortoise really. You can try increasing the amount of food a little and see if she still finishes it all. Also if she is housed outside she will eat the grass and other plants in her enclosure. On that note you need to make sure that all the plants she can get to are safe for her.
