Question:

How to get over anxiety issues?

Hello. I have a problem that I have been dealing with for a long time. I am always so anxious! I get nervous when I meet new people, and start new things. Heck, I even get anxious when I have to wait a minute in line. Can someone give me advice on how to get over worrying?

  1. Talk to a professional counselor who can help you work through this common problem.  It may result in medication, or likely just a better understanding on why it's happening and how to deal with it better.  Face your problems don't hide from them as they will only get worse.


  2. Force yourself into the situations. Take deep breaths... Don't think!

    These are things I did to help myself get over my anxiety. It was very hard at first, but I overcame it.

    I'd get anxious when I was inside, like my home, for long periods at a time.

    I also tried to think in different perspectives, that weren't negative. If I do this, what's the worst that could happen? What really happens in these situations though? I know it seems like it'd make it worse, but it didn't for me.

    Now people don't like me because I'm not afraid to speak up and whatnot. I'm open and friendly. lol. Go figure. I know that doesn't seem like the same thing, but its my version of it. There is one tree with many branches and roots. Some go up and some go down. :)

  3. meditate... I know a lot of people who do and it seems to help them.

    I also find that daily exercise... helps me feel more relaxed.

    You just have to put things into their proper perspective...

  4. i don't know, i'm having that problem too. i find it gets easier by repetition though. just keep meeting new people all the time and you'll quickly forget your anxiousness. you could do this through getting a job where there are a lot of people (like waitressing)
