Question:

How to heal a face burn?

I was getting my hair colored and while they were doing it, it began to burn! When I got home I noticed two places on my forehead were burned, right next to the hair line (the very top and the right side).

Now I am very worried and want to know what I can do to help heal these burns and prevent scarring. ANY advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so so much! It means a lot (esp. since I have a showcase I'm in on Friday).

  1. The first answer provides good advice for relieving pain and preventing infection. OTC antiseptics and burn gels with lidocaine or benzocaine- local anesthetics also help with pain. From an alternative medicine standpoint there are many options- the universally-known aloe vera, essential oils such as clove (anesthetic as well), lavender, geranium- perhaps combined with aloe gel should relieve pain and provide antiseptic effect in sufficient strength. Homeopathic remedies would need to be very specific to your symptoms, but you could research. Calendula ointment particularly heals most skin trauma such as burns, cuts, scrapes at an exceptionally rapid rate.  Vitamin C definitely provides the broadest spectrum of benefits for virtually every health condition on earth.- seen fairly bad facial scrapes totally healed, invisible, no scars in under 2 weeks. This may take large amount- 10-20g divided into many seperate doses throughout day.

  2. Keep the burns cool and moist at first: run cool water over them for 10 minutes and/or keep covered with a cool damp washcloth.

If you have any burn ointments such as silver sulfadiazine, use them. Otherwise, neosporin or another antibacterial ointment. That will prevent infection, which in turn will speed up the healing time, and the faster things heal the less likely they are to scar.

If the burns blister, do NOT break the blisters. It doesn't sound like they're too serious though, so in all likelihood they won't blister.

  3. burn ointments cause scarring so your best bet is to use neosporin
