  1. Hello --

What you need is practice and perhaps a bit of training.

    I recommend several things:

    (1)  Get a chess program for your computer and set it at the lowest strength possible ... it will still win but you will have a chance against it.  You can play it anytime and you can learn very fast.

    (2)  Of all the chess books there is one that I recommend for beginners ... it is called "My System" by Aron Nimzovitch.  (Try to get it used ...it has never been out of print)  This book is not just about chess ... it is hmmm? Perhaps about philosophy of chess.

    (3)  Find other people to play with ... it is important to learn from other players and I am sure there are players who will help you.

    (4)   I hired a chess coach ... didn't cost too much and he helped me a lot.

    Good luck on your adventure.

  7. Best thing is to play as many games as possible with your friends or even in internet and  for every game remember the faults that you are making and try to eliminate  it.In that way One day surely you will become a champ!.

  8. First off, just keep playing, you learn more from losing than from winning.

  12. play with that person who plays better than u

  13. Just practice, i know sometimes its hard to do, (trust me, i'm the only one in my family that knows how to play chess.) find an online site you can play against the computer. i used to have one, but i lost it when my comp crashed

  14. Play at every chance you get. I think i am good, but I know five or so people who will always beat me. I love to play them and I always try to take a different approach.

If you are loaded, Buy a smart chess board that claims on the back that it will teach you how to play chess. IT WORKS (a little) and provides instant opponent (Just add Mercury and Lead)
