How to make a biscuit mix

in my ingredients, it tells me i need biscuit mix, which i don't have. I want to make it, but on the internet, it give me recipes, but its too much..

i only need 1 1/ cup of biscuit mix, but the recipes tell me , i need 4 cups of flour and blaaah

how do i make enough for 1 1/2 cups?

  1. They are referring to "Bisquick."  Available at grocery stores.


  2. HOMEMADE BISCUIT MIX

    Basic Mix:

    4 cups all-purpose flour

    2 cups cake flour

    1/4 cup baking powder

    1 1/2 teaspoons salt

    1/2 lb. Crisco

    Sift together flours, baking powder and salt. 1 well combined, cut in Crisco using paddle attachment of mixer.

    Store in refrigerator for up to one month. Can be used as a substitute whenever biscuit mix is called for in a recipe.

    Whipping Cream Biscuits

    1 1/2 cups self rising flour

    1/2 pint whipping cream

    Mix the flour and the cream until blended;.

    Butter hands well and form the dough into ping pong ball sizes.

    Place on baking sheet 1 inch apart.

    Bake at 425°F for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.

    -------------EASY DROP BISCUITS

    2 c. self-rising flour

    1/2 c. mayonnaise

    1/2 c. milk

    Mix all ingredients together well and drop by tablespoons into greased muffin cups. Bake at 375 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until done.

    -------------------Buttermilk Biscuits

    2 C Martha White all purpose flour

    2 t baking powder

    ¼ t soda

    ¾ t salt

    ¼ cup shortening

    1 cup buttermilk

    Mix well all dry ingredients. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles very coarse crumbs. Add buttermilk and mix well but lightly. Turn out onto lightly floured surface. Knead lightly just until smooth. Roll to about ½ inch thickness. Cut with cutter to desired shape. Place on lightly greased sheet and bake at 450° for 10-12 minutes. Makes about 12 biscuits.

    For regular biscuits, use recipe above, omit soda, increase baking powder to 3 teaspoons. Use about ¾ cup of regular milk.

    --------------------Easy Butter Biscuits

    12-14 biscuits

    4 cups self-rising flour

    2 cups milk or half & half

    1 cup Crisco shortening or butter

    Blend flour and shortening (or butter) together using pastry blender.

    Make a well in center and slowly add milk. Turn onto a lightly

    floured

    surface and roll or pat dough to desired thickness (about 1/2 inch).

    Use biscuit cutter or a handy wine glass to cut. Bake on cookie sheet

    in a 425-degree oven for about 10 minutes.

    ----------------------Deluxe Choco Nut Biscuits

    500g Made Easy Chocolate Chip Biscuit Mix

    250g Butter - soft, not melted

    150g (1 Cup) Macadamia Nuts - chopped

    Easy Directions:

    1. Place Chocolate Chip Biscuit Mix, butter and Macadamia Nuts in a bowl.

    2. Using a mixer, blend together on slow speed for 2 minutes or until well combined. Alternatively, mix with a spoon until thoroughly blended.

    3. Roll mixture into balls and place onto an ungreased baking tray. Flatten slightly with the back of a fork.

    4. Bake at 195ºC for about 15-20 minutes.

    Makes about 20 medium sized biscuits.

    ---------------------------Cheddar Bay Biscuits

    INGREDIENTS:

    * 4 cups baking mix

    * 3 ounces Cheddar cheese, shredded

    * 1 1/3 cups water

    *

    * 1/2 cup melted butter

    * 1 teaspoon garlic powder

    * 1/4 teaspoon salt

    * 1/8 teaspoon onion powder

    * 1/8 teaspoon dried parsley

    DIRECTIONS:

    1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    2. In a mixing bowl, combine the baking mix, cheese, and water. Mix until dough is firm. Using a small scoop, place dough on the prepared pan.

    3. Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden brown.

    4. Combine the melted butter, garlic powder, salt, onion powder and parsley. Brush over baked biscuits immediately upon removing from oven.
